About Me
Hey there! My name is Sarah Jo Adams (she/her), and I am a performer based in DFW. I am originally from Vanderbilt, Texas! I grew up on a ranch near the Gulf Coast in Vanderbilt, so nature is a huge love of mine. Not only did I spend lots of my time exploring and adventuring through the trees, I also raised Pigs, Rabbits, Goats, and Heifers.
While my hometown is a big part of who I am, theatre, dance, and art have been integral to my life from a very young age. My mother put me in dance class when I was two. My love for dance led to me signing up for Musical Theatre camp every summer from the third grade through my senior year of high school.
I graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a BFA in Musical Theatre and a minor in dance on May 10, 2024! One of my favorite projects at UTA was portraying Gynecia and serving as associate choreographer in our production of Head Over Heels. I have also worked at The Firehouse Theatre in The SpongeBob Musical’s ensemble and as Saturday Night Fever’s dance captain!
Choreographing, and associate choreographer work are a passion of mine. I have been a student choreographer with UTA’s dance company for three years. I have also done associate and dance captain work at UTA and The Firehouse Theatre.
In the summer of 2023, I was fortunate enough to study in Oberaudorf, Germany with the Musiktheater Bavaria program. My grandmother moved to America from Germany in the 1950's, so this was a life changing experience that both pushed me to grow as a performing artist, and allowed me to see the world as I connected to my heritage and family.
I love making art that empowers women. I also love to push boundaries in theatre, like breaking gender and sexuality stereotypes. My favorite experience of breaking these stereotypes was in UTA’s production of Cabaret, where I portrayed Rosie through a queer lens.
Coming up next in my life is my wedding! I will be getting married this November, 2024. We are then moving to Hawaii in January, 2025. I could not be more excited about this next chapter in my life.

I recently finished performing in Head Over Heels at UTA. It was Directed and Choreographed by J. Austin Eyer, with Music Direction by Vicky Nooe.
In this production I portrayed Gynecia, Arcadia’s Queen. I also served as the Associate Choreographer. Stay tuned for what’s next.
Check out these awesome articles about Head Over Heels!
“Sarah Jo Adams kept surprising as Queen Gynecia peeling back her character’s layers from stern royalty to flirty and giddy and ultimately, empowered.”
“Senior Musical Theatre Major Sarah Jo Adams agrees: "What I love most about Head Over Heels is the joy it brings with positive queer representation. We don't see happy endings for queer characters very often in the arts, especially in the theatre, but Head Over Heels allows for an acceptance of one's true authenticity."”
